Since Thanksgiving is on the fourth Thursday, and this November started on a Friday, we have just 17 business days between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.
A December that starts on a Thursday gives us about 1/3 more time to get any Christmas shopping done in time, get cards made and sent, and so on.
So while every year, all shops will urge you to shop early, it matters even more to get going sooner this year.
